My New Etsy Store is Open

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know that my new Etsy store is open. I am still in the process of entering more pictures (right now only seven necklace and earring sets are up) on the store, so please stay tuned. Later on I will be adding wrap bracelets and some vintage items.

If you’d like to see it, you can find it at My old store used to be janesjools4u, but I wanted to dedicate this new store to my late mother, who was an excellent jewelry designer. Hence the “ForeverGlo” part of the name.

Thanks for visiting, and thank you as always for reading!

Ode to Jewelry

Oh, I do so love jewelry

Even more than I love tomfoolery.

It sparkles and glitters and shines–

And I wish that all of it could be mine!

Not one to be shy,

I often wonder why

More people don’t glam themselves up as I do–

Because it’s fun to be froo-froo,

It doesn’t matter what I wear

Just so long as there’s lots of jewelry there;

In my ears, round my neck, my wrists and my fingers–

I’m aware of all the eyes that linger

On sparkly, glittery, shiny old me–

I’m done up just as pretty as a Christmas tree!

I’ll bet that even Queen Elizabeth sneaks down

In her ruffled and feathered satin dressing gown,

To rummage through all her country’s fabulous swag–

And put on crown after crown, ring after ring, and have bag after bag

Of fabulous gems spill out ’round her feet,

‘Til all of her corgis beg her away for a treat.

Jewelry lifts me up on a bad day

Comforts me with its twinkles as I lay

In bed with a cold or a cough or a sniffle–

I can smile, all bejeweled, and just say ‘piffle!’

‘Silly!’ you may say, and you might be right–

But I’m just not me without my jewels all alight

That turn me from regular plain and mundane Jane,

To glitzy and fabulous and glittery Jane–

If I cannot be 20 again, with my youth as my jewels

Then I’ll be 60 plus, be-gemmed and suffer no fools–

To those who may say that I’m over the top,

May I invite you all to take a great flop–

‘Cause there’s no one else I’d rather be

Than twinkling, sparkling, glimmering ME!

Wabi Sabi Bracelets for Sale in My Etsy Store!

I’m taking this wabi sabi obsession of mine to a new level. As some of you may know, I have an Etsy store (please see where I sell my handmade necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Today I have added my newest bracelet line, Wabi Sabi bracelets. Currently, there are six of them on the store, and I will be making more of them this month.

Thank you in advance for checking them out, and as always thank you for your interest in this crazy blog of mine.

A Blatant Plug for My Etsy Store – I’m Having a Sale!

Just to let you know, I’m having a big sale on my Etsy store at If you’ve never visited, come take a look. If you like sales as much as I do, this is a good time to shop.

I design and create one-of-a-kind handmade necklaces,  earrings, bracelets, and necklace-an- earring sets, all made with vintage beads, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, glass, sterling silver, 14KT gold-over-sterling, brass, pewter, copper, silver plate and Glinter® (a solid metal made of zinc and copper with a little silver added). The necklaces and bracelets are strung on genuine SoftFlex® plastic-coated wire, which is flexible and strong (supports up to 10 lbs.).

I also make custom pieces on request. Come check it out. FYI: In my personal opinion, jewelry is THE gift for Valentine’s Day. Also in my personal opinion, jewelry is the perfect gift for ANY occasion. (But don’t listen to me–I’m a jewelry freak.) 🙂

No Excuse for Not Wearing Jewelry

Ok, that didn’t sound right. If you are one of those folks to whom less is more, then you have my admiration. I personally can’t do it. I don’t feel like myself unless I am wearing at least 12 pieces of jewelry.

I design, make and sell beaded jewelry (see my Etsy store at, and am fortunate enough to be able to sell my earrings at two wonderful hair salons.

But besides my own stuff, I love other jewelry as well. That said, I’m a cheap jewelry fanatic–sterling silver is my metal of choice, and my favorite stone is moonstone. (I can fall in love with a gorgeous ring, and then, upon seeing the astronomical price tag, fall just as quickly OUT of love.) I adore bangles, and even though I make my living as a technical writer and am therefore constantly typing, I enjoy the accompanying jingle-jangle of my bangles.

But to get to the point, I meet so many women who say, ‘oh, I just don’t know where I would wear these earrings/bracelet/necklace/ring, etc.’ Really? You do go to the store, don’t you? The library, the mall, out to lunch,  out to dinner, to the movies, etc., right? So what are you waiting for? If you are drawn to a pair of earrings, just GET THEM. Wear them, love them, enjoy them, and every time you see yourself in the mirror, you’ll be happy.

Each day should be its own celebration. So buy those sparkly dangle earrings you keep picking up and putting back down–there’s a REASON you like them. The real reason is that you secretly know that you will look and feel fabulous wearing them. So unless you’ve fallen in love with a pair of genuine grass-green Columbian raw emeralds set in platinum, GET THEM. (If you can afford the emeralds, GO FOR IT!)

We don’t know how long we will live, we don’t know what the future holds for us, we don’t know what’s around the next corner. So why not face all those challenges with courage, confidence, hope, joy and lots of jewelry!
