Let’s face it; it’s no fun when what we want doesn’t happen; take for example the presidential election. There are many who are thrilled for Biden, and there are many who want Trump back. During my lifetime so far, I have been both thrilled and disappointed in our presidents. However, I have prayed for each and every one of them every day whether or not I approved of them.
It’s like anything else; sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. And when we lose, there is no point of pouting about it because it is what it is. We just have to make the best of it. Sometimes we find that, by making the best of a perhaps bad situation, we may find that it all works out pretty well just the same.
I used to be a real PIA (Pain In The Ass) about when things didn’t go my way. It took a short but effective talk from a friend to realize that I was being an idiot. Turns out she was absolutely right, and from then on I changed my attitude. I am grateful every day for that.
So how do we handle things that don’t go our way? My own way is this: how exactly does it matter if we are right about everything? How does that make us better people? It certainly doesn’t make things better by whining about something we can’t change anyway.
When things don’t go our way, we just need to soldier on as best we can. Grumping constantly about things we don’t like doesn’t change a thing. For years now my motto has been “it is what it is.”
So, best of luck to our new president. Whether we like him or hate him, it is what it is.
