It’s taken me years to figure this out, but here it is: most things in life are in the category of “It Is What It Is.” That means that, whether or not you like the new president, it is what it is. If your political party messed up, it is what it is. If you and your best friend have fallen out because you both have different views, it is what it is. And so it goes.
There are just some things in life that we have to live with, whether we like it or not. We can fuss and moan and pout all we want to, but it changes nothing. If things don’t go our way, well too bad; it is what it is.
Granted, it can be frustrating, but some times that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. No amount of tears and whining can change things to go our way. I learned a long time ago that it doesn’t pay to fuss about what should have happened; things happen as they may.
So, what do we do when things do not go the way that we would like them to go? It’s pretty simple; deal with it or ignore it. Too much time and tears do not change what is, so we might as well get used to it. That pretty much applies to everything in life; sometimes you get what you want; sometimes you don’t. Generally, it isn’t a big deal anyway.
So, as I always tease the Cranky Yankee, it’s time for us to pull up our big-boy pants and soldier on. Why? Because it is what it is.
