Well. the corona virus is still around, and we are all pretty much stuck together at home, like it or not. The Crankee Yankee and I don’t have kids, just cats and each other. Our garden takes a lot of our time, which is good; right now the cucumbers are sprouting up like crazy. I’ve already made a huge jar of pickles with them.
Although we do food shopping once a week, and sometimes go to our local resturant (six feet away from everyone), we are mostly in our house or in the garden. I am reading books like crazy, as well as going through my huge hat box of photographs and organizing them, and watching TV, as well as checking the internet to answer silly questions such as ‘what is Jerry Seinfeld up to these days?’ As if he’d tell me…
Then there is the mask thing. If I’m going to be around people, on goes the mask. The Crankee Yankee and I decided that we would make masks a fun thing, so I ordered two masks with cats on them. The Crankee Yankee’s is a black mask with a cat on it saying “Ewww…PEOPLE!” Mine is a riot of purple cats. Plus the masks are both are soft and comfortable.
As we are older, we get it that we will all just have to be smart and to not take things for granted. If we feel we’ve been inside too much, we’ll grab a coffee and sit on the porch and wave at the passersby. We have lived through some tough times here and there and this is just one more of them.
The trick of it is simply this: be aware, be smart (and wear your mask when around other people), and be as positive if you can. Look for things you’ve been meaning to do when you have the time; the time is NOW. Because trust me on this one: this too will pass.
