I could make a list a mile long to describe the things I can no longer do; but that would be boring. The list of things I really shouldn’t do is probably longer; it includes the following:
- wearing high heels
- standing on my head
- kneeling
- climbing trees
- diving into a pool (I’ll just walk on in, thank you very much)
- climbing up a rope
- eating pizza at midnight
- running for exercise; walking works great for me
…and the list goes on. But the upside are many things that I really can do now as I am retired and I can pretty much do whatever the hell I want to do, such as:
- writing
- reading
- making spaghetti sauce with our own tomatoes and peppers
- watching TV
- staying in my PJs all day if I want to
- futzing around in the garden
- making jewelry
- making cookies early in the morning
- napping
- not wearing makeup (in house only!)
And so it goes. There are great benefits to being older, and best of all; you’re the boss of what you can and can’t do!
