The sweet summer sounds are all around
From highest sky to lowest ground;
Cardinals sing their “woot, woot, woot,”
And the old gray owl doesn’t give a hoot.
Blue jays and sparrows are all in tune
And on the lake you may hear the song of loon.
Mourning doves, sparrows, jays and chickadees
Are all in our feeder, right up to their knees—
The bird songs are many in these summer morns
I’d take that even over angels’ melodious horns—
The summer sounds are here with all of their sweet song
Makes me wish I could sing right along!
