Winter Haikus

Snow

Snow’s glittery wealth

Drifts on our sleeping garden

That dreams of green life.

Ice

Diamond-bright ice

Wraps our world in bright armor—

Beautiful costume!

Cold

Cold creeps into clothes,

Chilly fingers that freeze us

Warmth seems far away.

Wind

Winter wind chills us—

Blows twinkling snow down our necks,

And snatches our hats.

Sleet

Sleet applies its whip

To all men and beasts alike—

But all find shelter.

Dark

Dark comes earlier

Still a surprise after Fall;

Soon we remember.
